Toy Collection for Adoptees
IT IS TIME TO COLLECT NEW TOYS, BOOKS ETC. FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE BEING ADOPTED.
We work with ORANGE COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES each year and give children at their signing ceremony something to have for their very own. We are the only group who does this donation so it is very much appreciated. Our date for collecting will be APRIL 8 after 8:30 and 10:00 services. If you would like us to do the shopping checks or a donation of money will enable us to do just that. This has been such a giving congregation and you have spread much joy. We thank you in advance for supporting this service to children.

Help Survivors of California Fires and Mudslides
Adult Work Team Information Meeting:
Sunday, February 11
11:15 AM in Room 8/9
With all the local fires and mudslides that have tragically hit California this past year, we are preparing a plan to send several work teams, 2-5 days, to help bring encouragement and hope by helping cleanup rebuild their homes and lives to a new normal.
If you are interested in participating this is the meeting for you. All ability levels are needed, you just need to be able to follow directions.
We are considering a variety of trips for a variety of schedules. Trips will probably start this spring/summer in the San Diego area, although nothing is certain yet about when long term recovery will start.
If you are interested but cannot attend the meeting please let Suzanne suzanne@cumchb.org know in the church office and she will keep you in the loop.
Seeking warm clothing for asylum seekers in Orange County detention centers.
We are working with a team of people helping asylum seekers to get out of detention in Orange County and resettle with their sponsors, usually in the Midwest or East Coast.
They are usually young men, sometimes women, fleeing from dangerous countries to the U.S. who are stopped at the border or at the airport without entry visas, etc, and held in detention in Orange County until their cases are heard in court and they are given the official residency documents as asylum seekers.
Needed for men:
- Used jackets, sizes small or medium. These can be very warm or somewhat warm.
- Athletic shoes / winter shoes or boots
- Winter hats and gloves
- New underwear and socks
For women:
- Jackets (but only very warm ones)
