Looking for some friendly faces.
As you know there is a primary election coming up on Tuesday, June 5th. We are a polling place for 2 districts and there will hundreds of people coming here to vote that day. We like to have a table out to welcome people, offer a smile and a cup of coffee or water. We have information about our church and our summer activities. If you would like to help out for an hour or two please let Suzanne know (Suzanne@cumchb.org). If we are your polling place it is a great way to meet your neighbors.
One of the ways our church helps take care of each other is by making “church made” soup freezing it and brining the soup to people in need of some extra TLC after surgery and other life events. This soup is easy to make and gets wonderful reviews by those who have received it. We need to make another batch, so if you like to make soup please let Suzanne know either by phone or email (suzanne@cumchb.org) and we can set up a date that works for most people.

Join us May 20 for Change the World Sunday!
One brief worship service at 9:00 in the courtyard
Then off to do God’s work and give to others on this Pentecost Sunday. What better way to celebrate
the birthday of the church, than to be the church in action!
Join us as we participate in service projects for our local and global communities. There are service
projects for all ages. Projects include donating blood through our Red Cross blood drive 9:30 to 3:30,
creating cards and placemats for Meals on Wheels recipients, packing blessing bags to give to people on
the streets, and packing UMCOR Health kits for survivors of disasters. We will also make fleece blankets
for Collette’s Children’s Home in Huntington Beach, paint non-skid socks to give to a local nursing home,
make sandwiches and bake cookies for our homeless ministries, mulch around trees in the HB Urban
forest and plant native plants along the Monarch Trail in Huntington Beach. We are making a difference
in this world both near and far!
The Beach Bus Bistro will be here serving from 11:00 to 12:30, there will by all kinds of wonderful lunch
items, coffee drinks and shave ice for purchase. Then come and enjoy our courtyard meet some new
people and talk about how you help make this world a kinder place. This is a great service to invite your
friends and family to, so bring a friend!
There will be childcare in our nursery from 9:00am until noon for those under 3 years.

Hello OTS Supporters,
We are looking for more moving volunteers to join our team.
Our moving volunteers pick up donated furniture in Huntington Beach and surrounding cities and bring these items to our warehouse near downtown Huntington Beach. Our volunteers also deliver furniture from our warehouse to our clients that we place within Orange County.
You can help as little or as much as you want. We have our own warehouse, box truck, and dollies – you just need to show up at our warehouse near downtown Huntington Beach when we have a pick up or delivery need. If you can lift one end of a couch, you are qualified. In fact, we have a husband and wife team who have done many pick ups and deliveries with just the two of them without any problems.
Our coordination process is very simple and low-pressure. If you express interest in volunteering, we add your email address to our list of moving volunteers and when we have a moving need come up, we send an email blast out asking if anyone on the list can help. If you can help you reply with your availability, and if you can’t help you do not have to reply. If you are an individual we will team you up with another volunteer. Lastly, if over time you realize this volunteer work is not a good fit for you, let us know and we’ll remove your email address from our list, no questions asked!
Donation pickups take about an hour and deliveries to clients take about 2 hours.
Students – this is a great way to earn community service hours! One move provides a minimum of 2 hours of credit.
Retirees – can you spare a few hours a month? Bring a friend, or we’ll match you up with another volunteer, and experience the joy of helping others right here in our community.
Community and Church Groups – this is a great way to engage and help the community, and your already established teams and meeting schedule allow you to make these moves quickly and efficiently.
To get started email us at info@otshb.com or click the Volunteer button below.
Thank you for all your support,
From all of us at Off The Streets – Huntington Beach
