From his beginnings as a humble carpenter to his all-important role as the earthly father of Jesus Christ, Joseph’s place in the nativity story is sometimes overlooked, but contains valuable lessons for all of us. Join Adam Hamilton as he examines Christmas through the eyes of Joseph.
Absent from much of the biblical narrative, Joseph never spoke a word, but his courageous actions were crucial to the birth of Christ and God’s salvation plan for humanity. As you read this book, you will understand how Joseph’s story is much like our own. In life, we encounter circumstances that we would never have chosen for ourselves. At times it can be tempting just to walk away. Joseph provides us a great example of humbly obeying God even when we don’t understand and faithfully moving forward in the strength that God provides.
We hope you can join us. Books will be available soon for $15 in the church office or you can purchase them wherever you buy books.

On November 19, 2017 at 7:00 PM, Community United Methodist Church will welcome Huntington Beach’s diverse faith community for the annual Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council (GHBIC) Thanksgiving service, Thanks for Giving.
The choirs are already preparing and many faith leaders look forward to joining together for song, prayer, and stories of Thanksgiving in an opportunity to share gratitude. Following the service, we’ll break bread from a variety of cultures, and enjoy time socializing.
For over twenty years, the GHBIC has worked to foster understanding, respect, and the celebration of spiritual and cultural diversity through leaders of different faiths. Every November, they gather our community in a different house of worship for a service dedicated to giving thanks. Last year’s event was hosted at Temple Beth David.
We look forward to having you join us and encourage you, as you are able, to bring non-perishable food donations for distribution to our local community.
