Immigration in the OC and How Churches respond to the Crisis at the Border
This workshop seeks to inspire imagination on how the local church in Orange County can respond to the Crisis at the Border with tools, resources, and programs developed by United Methodists to walk alongside recent migrants to care, advocate, and share in the hospitality of Jesus Christ.
Our presenter is David Jaimes who is a graduate student at Fuller Seminary working on his
Masters in Divinity and pursing ordination with the United Methodist church. David is the Community Organizer at Santa Ana UMC. His role is in meaningfully engaging the intersections between the life of the church with the life of the local community. He is currently engaging with affordable housing, rent control, and recent migrants from Central America. David also works with the Cal/Pac Conference under the department of Justice and Compassion. He began the “No Estan Solos” (You are Not Alone) program which seeks to serve unaccompanied minors and/or recent migrants with resources from local churches.
David was born in Peru and raised in the OC.
