SUMMARY:Wednesday Evening Study
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Evening Study \nSeptember 16 – October 21 | 7:00pm \nRoom 7/8 & on Zoom* \nLed by Brenda Weikel \nWesley showed us ways to reorder our lives through the “means of grace.” Recharge. Reboot. Reorder. Whatever you want to call it\, we need a process that helps us continuously renew our relationship with God so that we don’t drift away from our faith. Based on The Wesley Covenant for Renewal\, Five Means of Grace is a six-week\, video-based study that will show you how to reorder your life through prayer\, searching Scripture\, receiv-ing the Lord’s Supper\, fasting\, and conferencing (worshiping together). You’ll learn how to recognize and affirm the outward signs\, words\, and actions of an invisible divine grace\, deepening your relationship with God and making your faith more complete.

SUMMARY:Free Film Screening: The Dads
DESCRIPTION:Film Screening Immediately followed by Q & A with people involved with making the film. \nPlease join us at Community United Methodist Church for a free screening of The Dads\,a documentary directed by Luchina Fisher about fathers standing up for their transgender and nonbinary children. \nInspired by the 2023 Emmy Award-winning Netflix short documentary of the same name\, The Dads follows a group of fathers who come together to support their trans and gender-expansive children amid a changing political landscape. As families face difficult decisions about whether to stay and fight for their children’s futures or leave the country\, these fathers find strength in community and in one another. \nFilmed over the course of a year\, the documentary captures intimate moments of family life\, quiet retreats\, public protests\, and a pivotal U.S. Supreme Court decision. \nThrough these experiences\, The Dads offers a moving look at the challenges families face\,the power of parental love\, and the courage it takes to stand alongside those we love. \nCUMC is located at 6652 Heil Ave. in Huntington Beach between Goldenwest and Edwards.
