During the week and on Sunday, Christian
education and fellowship programs are offered for everyone.
Classes are led by the ministers, lay staff, trained individuals
and guest teachers. There are many opportunities to study the
bible, join small group discussions or attend Sunday School
Classes. Read on to discover which classes best suit your
interests and faith.
Children (ages 3-11) From September through June, children's
Sunday School classes are offered during both worship services at
8:30 and 10:00 on Sunday. The first Sunday of the month, children
join their families in the sanctuary for the first part of the
service.
We are pleased to offer a complete Sunday
School program during each worship service where children can
receive age appropriate instruction with their peers. Our
education program is led by Suzanne Morgan, Director of Education
and Family Life and the Education Commission. The nursery is staffed by caring
grandparents, the 3 year olds have a modified program,
and
the Rotational Learning Model is used for our Elementary through Jr. High
classes. In the rotational learning setting the same Bible story
or theme is taught for several weeks. The classes will rotate to a
different station each week. The story remains the same, but the
children experience it in a different way. The children will
explore a Biblical story or concept in many learning styles and
the variety of experiences keep the interest level high throughout
the unit.
The classes will begin the unit with an overview,
usually through story telling then they will rotate to three
sections, one each Sunday. We will start in rooms 8/9 for our
gathering time and will then go to one of the different areas for
the remainder of the time. We will have art, cooking, games, drama
and even a video segment. This is a fun and exciting time for all involved. If
you have any questions, see Suzanne Morgan or call the church
office.

Senior High youth have classes which meet at
the 10:00 service. The youth also
meet later on Sunday afternoons for fellowship.
Our nursery is currently staffed by
two sets of loving grandparents who offer a wonderfully warm,
inviting and loving setting to allow babies and toddlers time to
become adjusted to being away from their parents who are attending
services on Sunday morning. Every Sunday, stories are read and
small activities are offered to enrich the religious experience of
the little ones.
Vacation Bible School
(VBS) occurs every summer for a one week session for children who
are 4 years old through 5th graders. During this
week, we explore one story from the bible or experience life as it
was in Jesus' time. The theme for July
31 - Aug 4, 2006 is Adventure of the Treasure Seekers. VBS begins
at 9:00 and ends at 12:00. Sign
ups will begin in May. Please contact Suzanne at the church office
if you have questions or would like to help with VBS. Many hands
are needed to lead the children in these learning and fun
experiences.
Youth (grades 6-12) We have Sunday School classes during worship
services for the middle school age group and for the high school
age group. Youth can also attend worship services in the
sanctuary. As a group, they lead worship once a year, as do the
young adults. The youth also meet on Sunday evening for
further fellowship. Follow the links to the
Youth Ministries page or to the
Youth Calendar which is a
page in our local newsletter called The Chimes.
Every year, young people from the church
work on a mission project. Some times the project is located
within the state and other times, the project may require travel
to a neighboring state. Fun, hard work and a sense of fellowship
and contribution to fellow man are words that describe their
experiences.
Summer camp experiences are available
for both elementary ages and for the youth groups. Click on the
link to see more news about summer
camps.
Adults In addition to the two Sunday morning
worship services and the Sunday
afternoon Legacy worship service, adults are offered many
opportunities to grow in their religion. Book clubs, bible
studies,
mission and service opportunities,
fellowship and family experiences,
musical events and
United Methodist Women groups, are available
to those who wish to expand their faith.
